A detailed discussion of Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT) written for patients is available on the Clot Connect Patient blog- connect here. We hope that the health care professional will consider this document to be suitable as an information handout to his/her patients with HIT.
The discussion also contains 2 resources for use by the health care provider: (a) the table of the “4T score” for a pre-test likelihood assessment of HT (Table. 4T scoring system), and (b) a one page handout for the patient with HIT with a summary of his/her key clinical data (Clinical data summary. I think the “Clinical data summary ” document might be a useful resource for the patient to keep and show to future health care professionals taking care of him/her, so that they have a full understanding of how likely HIT in this patient was and on the basis of what the diagnosis was made.
A patient handout on HIT is available on the Clot Connect website here.
